Look Mom, No Floaties!!

After much encouragement Kaylie took her floaties off this weekend and swam like a fish!!

EVERYONE NEEDS A FRIEND LIKE THIS!

Last night while I was visiting Dad, we went to sit with Mr. Williams (Dad calls him the Chief) in the dining room.
Dad had his aide Krystal push his wheelchair behind Mr. Williams wheelchair and lock the
wheels. Dad grabs the handles of Mr. Williams wheelchair and stands up and proceeds to massage Mr.Williams head (I wasn't fast enough to get this picture) and shoulders, arms and hands. It was the sweetest thing that I had ever witnessed in my life, and judging by the smile on Mr. Williams face, very much appreciated.

Corn, Corn and More Corn

This weekend was the annual corn run to Deridder, Louisiana.
Every year Lori from work makes the treck all the way there for
sweet corn that is grown by the Amish. It is by far the best corn
that I have ever eaten and well worth the eight hours spent in the
car and the look of fear on my face when the gas light came on and
we were on the road to NOWHERE!! We did make it though, but it was
a stretch of about 30 miles with NOTHING on it.
I had plenty of help shucking and cutting off the cob, and my three bushells were all in the
freezer in record time.
We stopped by another farm in Hornbeck, La. and picked up peas,
and tomatoes. When the Amish lady looked in the back of our
vehicle and saw the tomatoes, she asked us where we got them.
I proudly showed her my peas that I purchased ALREADY SHELLED!
She said "OH THAT'S NICE" I explained that it was the lazy city girl
way to do things!

Preparing for Harlen

Hayden is gearing up for baby brother Harlen
Yesterday Jennifer was preparing him for some of the
things that will be going on when Harlen comes home.
Last night when I got home, he told me "Nana, guess
what my baby brother is going to have when he comes
home from the hospital"? I asked him...what?

HE SAID, HE'S GOING TO HAVE AN UMBILITY CORD!

Last week Jennifer found all his animals in his bed, they all
had a binky or a bottle.
JiJi said that there was a discussion on breast feeding as well,
but there was no comment on that from Hayden!

Father's Day

Dad was out to the house on Sunday. This was the first time since January that he had been any where at all. He had a very nice day and was very tired when we brought him back to Silverado.

We all had a very nice day.

My Little Patch of Tranquility

My garden has truly been a blessing this year. Usually I plant one so that the grand kids can see how things grow and once the weeds set in and the real work starts I loose interest rather quickly. This year however, I have really enjoyed being out there. Even in this heat. I have picked over 100 squash off of six plants. The tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and eggplant have done okay. If I don't pick squash every day, overnight they turn into these giant squash. Jennifer thinks that if we sit out there, we could actually watch them grow! If I miss one, I will throw it over the fence. The other day, Jim saw a little squirrel dragging one all the way across the field. He said that little squirrel worked so hard to get it to the tree that he lived in only to realize that he couldn't possibly get it up there. He said that he would look up at the tree, then down at the squash, he wished that he had a video camera!

NOT Tough Enough to Wear Pink Tonight

Tonight at the Rodeo it was "Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Last year Hayden proudly wore his pink shirt, but tonight he wasn't having anything to do with it. I even pulled up the Rodeo homepage on the computer and showed him all the "real" cowboys on the horses with their pink shirts on. Nothing doing, he wasn't wearing it! But in Nana's opinion, he was still the "cutest" cowboy there!!
